Garth Ellingham (Main/Tactics)

Garth grew up sailing out of Wakatere Boating Club, at Narrowneck beach. He competed competitively in all junior dinghy classes since the age of 9. Along the way constantly gaining top results including 3rd in the P-class Tanner Cup and winning the Starling National Championships. At the age of 18 he decided in order to achieve his dream of becoming a professional sailor the best pathway was through the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron Lion Foundation Youth Training Programme. He has since graduated from the programme after 2 successful years gaining top national and international results. He plans to continue to do whatever it takes to become New Zealand’s next top tactician and has recently completed his Engineering degree at Auckland University. He is currently based in europe competing with WAKA Racing on the match racing scene there.
